Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table
Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Seekers and Planners parties.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
