Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Dies at 60 Years Old.
Stateside performer Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic programs including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in LA this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"He saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a message.
They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive Television Career
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of popular shows, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies are It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Outside of his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was involved with a comedy group of six known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored countless students throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, his three kids, and his family.
