Ex- BBC Consultants Undergo MPs' Grilling In the Wake of Allegations of Partiality in Leaked Memo
We start with inquiries from Conservative MP the committee chair, that leads the group.
She commences by providing background to the leaked memo prepared by Michael Prescott and published in a national newspaper.
"I don't want the BBC slanting this way or that way, I simply desire it straight, unbiased and just," he declares.
Upon being questioned whether he considers the BBC is institutionally biased, Prescott answers: "Absolutely not. Let's be clear, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation does is exceptional - both factual and non-factual programming."
But he adds: "There exists substantial tasks that needs to be done at the BBC."
A further former external British Broadcasting Corporation specialist interviewed by the panel, Caroline Daniel, states she views the BBC extremely earnestly and that it maintains a "ongoing system and active debate" across dynamic and complex subjects.
"Whether the BBC was prepared to engage in a genuine dialogue and debate and act accordingly?" she asks herself. "As I see it, affirmative, they were."
