President Trump Calls Families of Shot National Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Offer

The president stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both members of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Response

Mourners came together over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to assist policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the principal of her alma mater, stated to the press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to support those in need.”

Service plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Policy Changes

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy led the administration to halt asylum applications and temporarily stop granting visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general the attorney general informed a news show that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor told the audience at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
