The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to create a TTRPG set within the franchise’s apocalyptic landscape. The project was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the table, offering fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an announcement.

Initial offerings will include a starter set, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and various deluxe editions.

Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was released in NYC, plunging the nation into chaos. As the pandemic escalates, civil order breaks down and violent factions emerge, transforming the city into a warzone. To preserve order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. This is where the agents enter the story.

Development on the RPG has been in progress for about three years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to reach a wider market, particularly in North America. Manufacturing is slated to begin right after the campaign, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.

A Streamlined Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

An early look at the game's rules reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and tactical approach. Agents leverage abilities to roll a handful of dice, typically from one to five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, players select a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a natural 10 grants special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Engagements Emphasize Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Fights prioritize placement and environmental awareness, reflecting the video games. Elements like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This system seems built to reward coordination and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.

A Thematic Health Mechanic

The way injuries is tracked introduces a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an agent collapses, but is not unconscious.
  2. They may still move and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand common to video game shooters.
  3. Any player knocked down must consult a trauma table, risking lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Adventure

A free Quickstart Guide will be released in the near future. It contains a pre-made starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players spearhead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and work to stop an attack by the notorious Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the full range of offerings will be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
