The former Liverpool manager states rejoining to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.
The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback is something that could happen. Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
Liverpool won England's top flight in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he explained to the podcast host: “I said I will never coach any other side on English soil. Which implies should it be the Reds...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, that means I might decide later on, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Questioned regarding which situations would have to unfold to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he isn't eager for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip press conferences repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews each week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal with the players having a nice chat, that’s nice. We won a lot of games thus frequently positive atmosphere in the building. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled for example.”
Commending Arne Slot
He commended regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the adjustments which secured the championship in the previous season. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in all competitions post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the suggestion of it representing a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, they will be fine.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, and the effect at the club. The forward died tragically in a car crash together with his sibling in July.
“Can you substitute such an individual? It’s not about his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the squad without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss about it. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad also. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it as an excuse though it's a fact. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Dealing with that individually is not easy. Impossible.”
