This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

It might not have been at the identical stature as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people yelling “six seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so widespread that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its top term for the year.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to kick off the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It captures the character of Miami: happy, varied, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Each year, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
